I have installed IE8 on many computers. Never had any issues specifically with XP, although IE8 had many installation issues when it was first released. As Carlos suggests, giving us examples of what specific problems you are having could allow us to help.
Which version of IE are you installing over? And, are you installing IE 8 via WSUS or Windows Update path? I had this happen when installing from IE 6 to 8.
If you are getting errors when attemting to install please provide those errors in detail. Also please tell us what Service Pack level you have. Thanks.
our windows xp 2002 service pack 3 says IE8 is installed yet when we check the version it says 7? and we keep grtting pop up from our POS provider saying: Your version of Internet Explorer is out of date
Run regedit and navigate to the [ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer ] key. What ‘Version’ value is shown? Also, the next level down has key [ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Version Vector ]. What value shows for name ‘IE’?Tom
