 IBM Thinkpad R51

I am in the process of rebuilding a R51 Thinkpad that has had a HD replaced. IBM for some reason feels it doesn't need to reload its Rescue and Recovery program onto new HD so I am trying to use Recovery CDs made from a working R51. Does anyone know if there is a problem with trying to do so. When I get into the RnR and start the reset to factory settings it gives me a Operation Failed message. Something to do with the preload I believe. Thanks for any helps. Denis.

Not sure this will work for you. I believe that the recovery CDs you are creating from the working PC are probably now "specific" to that PC. If practical, try running them on working PC to verify. Again, not sure how the s/w is set up for this platform - so this is really just a semi-WAG. Good Luck.
