I need some serious help here. A client of mine had his old IBM netfinity 5500 server hit by lightning and the motherboard is toast. Problem is, he has no backup, and I'm trying to recover the data.
The data sits on a 10 disk drive array, RAID 5. He has a spare Netfinity 5500 that isn't being used. So I thought that I could just swap the drives from the Blown MB 5500 to the spare 5500. But when I do so all the drives in the 10 disk drive array are labeled as defunct. The two boot drives are online. I cannot get the 10 disk array to come online.
If I swap the blown boot drives for the spare 5500 original drives then the 10 disk drive array comes online. Only problem is that the spare boot drives, 5 disk array, has two defunct drives in them. So I can't boot in order to get to the 10 disk array to get to the data.
I was hoping to take the original drives, slot them into the spare working server and boot up to access the data. How would I do this?
