I realise how ludicrous this question must sound. However: I want to upgrade my IBM i5/OS from V5R2 to V5R3 (or straight to V5R4) and I don't know how to order a CD of the upgrade. (I don't want to download the upgrade) I do have software support. We bought our existing hardware via IBM Direct so I cannot approach an IBM agent (or can I?) Many thanks.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

There is a menu Go PTF that will allow you to order directly from
your box. It will give you the option you are looking for.

I do have software support.

Simply make a software support call and say you want to order an upgrade. That’s how I’ve always done it.

There is also the Request Order Assistance (RQSORDAST) command. I haven’t used it, but it looks like a reasonable starting point for someone who’s not gone through the process before.

I would contact IBM Software Support direct and it should be covered as part of your software maintenance. Or try an IBM account manager or we use our IBM Business Partner. As V5R3 is no longer supported I would be tempted to go straight to V5R4M0.
