I5 HMC Not Saving Scheduled Operations on Reboot

Q:
I5 HMC Not Saving Scheduled Operations on Reboot
I use our HMC to schedule moves of our tape resource overnight so two of our AS400 LPARS can be backed up with no manual intervention.

I schedule this move within HMC configuration then 'Schedule Operations'. The I/O resource moves have infinte repeats and run quite happily from night to night.

However, if I reboot the HMC console these scheduled operations are removed from the system.

Is this 'normal' for the HMC or do I need to perform some other type of save before rebooting?

Thanks for any help.

We have the same problem, I have just tested it. The scheduled task we are adding is to activate on a Linux LPAR. This has been running for a while without problems, but if we power off and on the HMC the schedule dissapears.
Our firmware version is V4.3.2 with a MH00196 & MH00197 code updates. We have received the latest firmware (V4.4.0) but not applied yet, this may fix the problem. If it does not, I suspect a call to IBM Software Support is in order. Sorry I can't be of more help, but we appear to be in the same horrible HMC boat!

Cheers, Richard.

Hi Richard

Thanks for your reply. And sorry you lost all your scheduled operations testing it out!!

We’re on V4.3.3.

Ours is still a test machine so I’ll get the latest firmware update on there and let you know if anything changes. Though do have a feeling going to be needing to call the software support!

Thanks, Juliet
