The fiel information data structure INFDS1 is associated with the file PF001 and the fields in this structure will receive data about the file. The fields I B 156 1590RCDCNT <-- record count when file is open by the program I 83 92 FILNAM <- external file name I 93 102 LIBRAR <- external library of the file I 129 138 MEMBER <- external member name.

For ILE RPG, see the INFDS(DSname) topic in the ILE RPG Language Reference. For RPG/400, download the RPG/400 Reference PDF to look up meanings of specifications. Tom

There's so much more to enjoy when you read the manuals.. see Tom's links, or go to the IBM Information centre for whichever version of OS you are on. http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iseries/v5r4/index.jsp

Read a book - which book he would ask. It's amazing that some many people don't look in a user guide or a manual first. They expected that someone else will do it for them. Very sad

Hopeles, you don't even get the pun. Ankit2002 send me your e-mail, I'll send you a copy of my book. Great SEX and Humor and a chapter on IFDS. Available in used book stores all over the world for a little over the price of shipping. Phil
