I want to write a window program that will constantly monitor the contents of a file and update the display in a window. I do not want to press the enter key just have it running in the back ground. I have done this a long time ago but it is tucked to far back in my memory to recall it.

The best bet may be to build your screen/subfille and do a WRITE. Don’t use EXFMT, that will force an input key. Try putting a delay in after the write. When timer is up clear screen/subfile, rebuild then WRITE again. The problem comes when trying to end the job. If there is no input you would have to control it by a code to terminate the program in your file. Example ** in pos 1 and 2. When you read you file , and find these chars then ENDJOB.

Was thinking about this a little more. What is the practical purpose of a program like this ? Does it have to be written in RPGLE ?
