Hi there i work for a school in the uk. i am the schools technician.

Basically we have 110 pcs and 1 server. running windows xp professional and server 2003 enterprise on a domain

I have the chance to upgrade both the server to windows server 2008 and windows 7 professional.

im wanting to know if you could give me any sort of information or has anyone upgraded in there school. is there anything i might need to know reguarding upgrading and any problems i might come across.

We did the same thing last year. the only problem we had was finding a sound driver for a 5-year old machine. Installation was a breeze. No problem running any apps after the upgrade.

    One of the smoothest transitions around here was when someone made an MSI of the new OS image with a few select programs to install and pushed it out to a test group (like 3 PCs) before mass-deploying it. Worked great, went from XP to Win7 Pro, installed Office 2007 and other educational software packages...
