    That implies first that SOAP is not best for p2p and second that REST is not best for distributed. Since neither is particularly true, it makes it hard (if not rationally impossible) to handle your original request.

    Much more needs to be known about the particular functions that would be exposed by the REST or SOAP application before deciding if one is preferable (or 'best'). The development environment and the target users would need to be considered next. Other factors such as implementation deadlines also come into it.

    The question request is simply not specific enough.
