i am trying to backup of a 80GB database on a network (SAN via NAS)and its taking 10 HRS but when i backup up the same database on a local drive it only takes 40 minutes. can anyone help me troubleshoot what the possible issue could be?

how i your san is connected & what kind of San you are using. Do check the speed settings, cables, duplex settings

Check your duplex settings on your server and NAS. If you copy the backup from the SQL Server's local disk to the NAS how long does it take?
