What percent of your IT spend is in physical assets vs. intangible assets? 3. How do you link physical assets to the intangible assets? 4. How do you use this ongoing information? Hi,
This is in no way a sales pitch, as I am a craft person. I use a shareware program called TelcoMgr by Access Networking. I do all of my Telco provisioning and circuit/facility record keeping with it. I like it a great deal but to date have not purchased the registered version. It has great reports and is very detailed, I can only imagine how the full version is….

Hopefully, the moderator won’t boot me from here for sharing this with you. If you want you can email me direct and I will point you towards them. My email is baron.ledford@nuvt.com and I will help you out in any way possible.

Never look back and never stop learning. If you stop for just a moment, the industry will pass you by!

Our company has started to assist customers in this area through the use of RFID integrated solutions. RFID tags can be attached to devices, then if the device is moved or relocated, it can be easily recorded in to a backend database. In at least one case, the customer integrated the RFID system with video cameras. If the sensors pick up an unscheduled move, a camera kicks on and records the event. In addition, the tags are placed in the employee badges so if it is an employee, the system records who is moving the equipment as well. As to other tools, many of the higher end back office applications have asset and/or inventory management modules. One of my former customers used a home grown database as they were a fairly small outfit, but in larger scenarios such as Universities, enterprise networks, or large health care campuses, an RFID or bar code system almost becomes a necessity to maintain control. I can be reached at: kspinks@perfectorder.com if you want more info on the RFID solutions. I have only worked peripherally with these, but I can put you in touch with our resident expert.
