We have a VNX system with more than 50TB of data. We also have a storage engine with enough storage. Now we want to back-up the VNX to the storage engine. The idea we have for the moment is to do this with rsync. From the VNX we make a snapshot. This snapshot is necessary because the data on the VNX can change every moment. With a snapshot we are sure that the file is consistent. This snapshot we rsync to the storage engine. Rsync is installed on a PC where the VNX is mounted. so this PC would read all the data of the VNX an calculate the hash to find the changes. If I understand it right, this px also reads the data from the storage engineso it needs to reads twice a lot of data en calculate the sum. Is it possible with the rsync daemon to calculate the sum local and send this to the PC for comparison? Or do you suggest other solutions for this.
