We've i5 270 Machine with V5R4M0. When I tried to Start the HTTP Administration Admin Instance, The WRKACTJOB shows that Admin instance is starting, but few secound later Admin Instance Job ends. In the Spool of QTMHHTTP, QPJOBLOG says "Error occurred converting data. Reason 5." And Reason 5 is "The size of the converted data is greater than the receiver buffer length" . We've 1.5 GB RAM for this Machine. Please guide me the solution.

Hi,

I don’t think that the amount of memory has anything to do with your problem. It seems to be a fault caused by one of the programs that runs in the HTTP admin job.

Have you applied all the latest (cumulative) PTF’s? I would suggest that you start there.

Regards,

Martin Gilbert.

Hi Martin

I did’nt applied the PTF’s. Ok let me do it first ..

Thanks

Reason 5 is "The size of the converted data is greater than the receiver buffer length" There is no message ID supplied with the question, so some guesswork is necessary. PTFs would be the best starting point when use of a product begins. If the product has been in use and this kind of reason shows up, I would first look at my QCCSID system value to see if it was 65535. If it was, it would most likely be because no one ever configured the system properly in the first place. The QCCSID system value should be set according to how the system is to be used. (This can be thought of similar to "Region" settings when installing Windows.) The message indicates that a string of text might be converted from one CCSID to another. The conversion resulted in a string of bytes that was longer than the buffer that was created to receive the new string. E.g., a single-byte character set string could be converted to a double-byte string, but the receiving buffer will necessarily be perhaps twice as many bytes as the source string. PTFs would be a common way to get fixes for this kind of problem installed. Because AS/400s can be used with many different languages and character sets, early uses around the world should have exposed this problem and led to a fix. However, if this kind of "problem" arises out of an inappropriate configuration, then there possibly is no "fix" except to set the configuration to a proper setting. Tom
