HSRP use in Two MPLS line
Friend

I have mpls line to connectivty from head office to branch office, one live and one backup, now i would like configure HSRP for active active setup.

My question is ,right now our backup line is using only redundancy, this line is mpls, if i configure HSRP this line can use another application as well as backup line?

this idea will work?

Answer Wiki:
HSRP is not really designed to be used in an active active configuration. The true purpose of the protocol is to provide redundancy not load balancing. Multiple HSRP groups do provide load balancing but to be honest its quite crude. I would look at GLBP instead which is very similar in configuration and can be used in an active active configuration to provide true load balancing. Be aware though that by configuring GLBP or multiple HSRP groups that this will only deal with traffic from your network out into the cloud and not the other way. You will also need work with your service provider to ensure that they load balance using both circuits back to you. Different service providers use different techniques so you will need to speak to them about that.

You can make it work using GLBP, VRRP, or HSRP. But, you will need to develop policies for what traffic use which link as primary.

@Celex11 I think you are confused by the HSRP. It is, in this case, Hot Standby Router Protocol. A fault-tolerant gateway for redundant networks.Nothing to do with number plates.
