Running a 270 V5R2. I have several barcode printers set up using remote writers, working fine. I have several IBM infoprint printers set up regularly working fine. Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

this printer is a problem and you should have checked the IBM site before purchasing. Note the following:

The terms “Host-based HP PCL4″ and “Host-based HP PCL5e” indicate that the printer accepts an HP PCL4 or PCL5e printer data stream, but may require that the print data come through a host-based printer driver, such as a printer driver for one of the Windows, Linux? or MacIntosh operating systems.

Note: Unpredictable results have been received when using LPR, PJL, SNMP with Host Print Transform (HPT) or when using either HPT or a Printer Definition Table (PDT) file with a PC5250 printer session when printing to printers that use Host-based HP PCL4 or PCL5e. If one of these configurations does not work with a printer that uses host-based HP PCL4 or PCL5e, then it is recommended to use a PC5250 printer session that has been configured to use the Windows printer driver without HPT or a PDT file.

this is from the IBM site. I recommend a printer from HP that is not host based. Please read “host based” as windows based. See this URL:

    We have quite a few HP 2210dn printers set up on our network. Some are set as writers while others have to be set as output queues as they do not respond if set up as writers. Most HP laserjets respond as long as they are set up as *HP4 (Manufacturer type and model . . . : MFRTYPMDL *HP4 ) This is a device description for a 2210dn on my network: Display Device Description 5722SS1 V5R2M0 020719 S44F2063 21/0 Device description . . . . . . . . : DEVD FCGAMS03 Option . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : OPTION *ALL Category of device . . . . . . . . : *PRT Device class . . . . . . . . . . . : DEVCLS *LAN Device type . . . . . . . . . . . : TYPE 3812 Device model . . . . . . . . . . . : MODEL 1 LAN attachment . . . . . . . . . . : LANATTACH *IP Port number . . . . . . . . . . . : PORT 9100 Physical attachment . . . . . . . : ATTACH *DIRECT Online at IPL . . . . . . . . . . : ONLINE *YES Font . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : FONT Identifier . . . . . . . . . . . : 11 Point size . . . . . . . . . . . : *NONE Form feed . . . . . . . . . . . . : FORMFEED *AUTOCUT Separator drawer . . . . . . . . . : SEPDRAWER *FILE Separator program . . . . . . . . : SEPPGM *NONE Library . . . . . . . . . . . . : Printer error message . . . . . . : PRTERRMSG *INQ Message queue . . . . . . . . . . : MSGQ *CTLD Current message queue . . . . . . : QSYSOPR Library . . . . . . . . . . . . : QSYS Activation timer . . . . . . . . . : ACTTMR 170 Inactivity timer . . . . . . . . . : INACTTMR *SEC15 Line speed . . . . . . . . . . . . : LINESPEED 19200 Word length . . . . . . . . . . . : WORDLEN 8 Type of parity . . . . . . . . . . : PARITY *NONE Stop bits . . . . . . . . . . . . : STOPBITS 1 Host print transform . . . . . . . : TRANSFORM *YES Manufacturer type and model . . . : MFRTYPMDL *HP4 Paper source 1 . . . . . . . . . . : PPRSRC1 *LETTER Paper source 2 . . . . . . . . . . : PPRSRC2 *LETTER Envelope source . . . . . . . . . : ENVELOPE *NUMBER10 ASCII code page 899 support . . . : ASCII899 *NO Image configuration . . . . . . . : IMGCFG *NONE Character identifier . . . . . . . : CHRID *SYSVAL Remote location . . . . . . . . . : RMTLOCNAME Name or address . . . . . . . . : 10.44.21.12 Workstation customizing object . . : WSCST *NONE User-defined object . . . . . . . : USRDFNOBJ *NONE Object type . . . . . . . . . . : *NONE Data transform program . . . . . . : USRDTATFM *NONE System driver program . . . . . . : SYSDRVPGM *IBMSNMPDRV Allocated to: Job name . . . . . . . . . . . . . : FCGAMS03 User . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : QSPLJOB Number . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 595745 Published . . . . . . . . . . . . : *NO Option . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : OPTION *ALL Category of device . . . . . . . . : *PRT Publishing information . . . . . . : PUBLISHINF Support duplex . . . . . . . . . : *UNKNOWN Support color . . . . . . . . . : *UNKNOWN Pages per minute black . . . . . : *UNKNOWN Pages per minute color . . . . . : *UNKNOWN Location . . . . . . . . . . . . : *BLANK Data streams supported . . . . . : *UNKNOWN Text . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : TEXT FCGAMS03 - HP Laserjet 2200D Hope this helps Kas
