The nc6400 is generally configured with a fingerprint reader. If yours is, enter the BIOS and disable the TPM chip. This should allow access to the system.
If you do not have the fingerprint reader installed, you should be able to enumerate the accounts installed and change their passwords using the Linux based Ultimate Boot CD (the basic UBCD for Windows does not allow this).
There are many Windows password reset tools, but I haven’t personally tested them. Windows Password Rescuer is a widely spread edition on internet…
It supports running with CD/DVD/USB, remove the lost or forgotten password and then log in to your computer without any password. As long as you have another PC to install it and burn it to CD/DVD or USB Drive.
You also can use Windows Password Rescuer to add a new user with administrator privilege to your Windows when you can not find target user. With this New user account you can and logon your locked computer directly .
Here I collect some popular solutions to help reset HP laptop password if your laptop installed Windows system such as Windows 7/Vista/XP.
Solution 1 Reset HP laptop password by another user account with administrator privilege.
Solution 2 Reset HP laptop password with Offline Windows Password & Registry Editor.

If you do not have another administrator account on HP laptop or you have little experience in Windows or LUNIX operations, you can use Windows Password Rescuer to help reset HP password without lose date.
