So right now im trying to make a CLfile that prints out the fields on the SDA fields when i input the field number. For example, i have a customer database which has the fields EMPNO,EMPNAME,COMPNAME ,etc. so by typing the empno (lets say 'A00001' ) in the input field, i want to able to pull the entire record information into the fields of my sda.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Hi,

You would need to use OPNQRYF command along with OVRDBF command.
You would need to mention selction criteria (Eg: EMPNO *EQ ‘A00001′) on QRY keyword of OPNQRYF command.
Review other parameters as well before using.

    You could also use SQL.

I extend Charlie's answer. If you want interface type of thing rather then writing plain SQL query you can use WRKQRY command, define your file(s) if there are multiple files then you have to join them select required fields and in select records options give criteria and you are done.
