How to upgrade from S/40 to 520

We have an S/40 (and an S/20) running V5R1 which cannot be upgraded beyond V5R2. We are planning to purchase a new 520 i5 which I believe only support V5R3. If so, how do I migrate from the S/40 to the 520 as all manuals I've read thus far concern upgrades that can't possible be done with this hardware catch-22.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

It is a bit confusing, but the manuals are referring actually upgrading your hardware component by component to a 520, which can not be done. You are purchasing a new server and moving your software and data over to the new box. Follow this link for IBM information..

What you have to do is look in the disaster and recovery manual under migrating data to new hardware from another version. The catch is some of QGPL and Qusrsys can not be brought over. You should still be able to bring over Profiles, Configurations(even though you may have to rename resources in DST) and User Libraries.
