You can submit a CHGPF command to an existing physical file in iSeries. The purpose is to add additional fields to the end of the file without having to recompile RPG/RPGLE programs associated with it.

You don't update PFs through DSPFs. PFs are databasde files. DSPFs are terminal display files. Except that they are both "file" objects, they are not related.
