i want to make an aplication to converts the large pictures on the hard to small one an save it on the hard again simply : to convert the large picture on the hard to small one and save it on the hard again

You can automate irfanview to scale all images in a directory and rewrite to same or different directory.

    You didn't say which operating system you were using. For Windows, Linux, Unix and Mac there are a number of shareware and freeware applications available (I use PMVIEW and GraphicConverter). You can also use programs such as Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. Things to consider are image format (eg., TIFF, JPEG, GIF) and resolution of the converted image.

    Gimp in Linux works really good for that sort of thing and photoshop works really good too. Depends how much you want to spend. Gimp comes with Mandrake Linux
