How to save data in SharePoint Services
Hi

My company is just getting into SharePoint Services and I been asked to quote on a specific task, which I haven't had any luck finding any articles about.

What I need to achieve is how to create a form which users fill out, the details are saved to the SharePoint database and then an email is sent to someone. I need to develop this in asp.net and not utilising InfoPath.

I found one article, (http://www.codeproject.com/KB/sharepoint/SharepointContactForm.aspx) which utilise WebParts and creates a simple contact us page which emails the details, but it doesn't save the data to the database.

Ideally if you could show me or have an article which details the process of saving the data and then I could extend the simple contact form, that would be great.

Cheers
Goggs

Answer Wiki:
Does it have to be a form? Can you create a new contacts or issues list, add custom fields, have the user fill out that form which would store on your sharepoint site content store then add an a user alert to the site, which notifies by email of new content?

Alternatively, use the forms feature in word, make that the template in a new forms library, use alerts to send notifications of new content.
