Is there a way to reset the system generated job number back to 0? Our system generated job number is reaching 995,000. I like to see whether I can control the timing of the reset that is going to happen.

Hi,

I don’t think there’s any way to do this, I believe that the job numbers get reset during OS installs, but otherwise they’re not changeable.

Regards,

Martin Gilbert.

Actually they are automatically reset once they hit 999999. the purpose of the job number is to actually have a unique job on the machine because the probability of having the same number/user/jobname is twice in the system is very very small. and if there are 2 you still have time on you’re side :)
