yes carlos, i would agree that the best solution so far is to reload O.s…however, due to customers demand we would like to know if their is a quick fix..

p.c drives and other drivers are with abrir..it stays like that…

.i have google it myself and so far i have not known anyone come across with such annoying issues; only hea at the cook islands???

It’s becoming a little more clear.

when one p.c is affected with abrir…once you insert flash drive or hdd it affects how you open themm…it replaces “open” with “abrir”.

Does that mean that the affected PC doesn’t show “Abrir” until after a flash drive or new HDD is added?

Or does it mean that “Abrir” only appears in the menus for the inserted flash drive or HDD?

I would not recommend messing with the registry to fix this. Even if you have in fact removed any malware, there could be files that are still corrupt and could cause malfunction.

In some cases the best solution is to format and reinstall the OS.

Also, make sure your flash drives are not the ones propagating the infection.

sorry, we do not install abrir messenger on our p.c or laptop..we suspected it would be trojans or malware or some autorun virus..we started geting this issues late last year..

Her guys…
yes tomliotta the “open” is replaced by “Abrir”, and if you click abrir it tries to open with other programs….
the only options to get it to default “open” that we knowot i to reformat hdd drive or flash drive, or external hdd……
The drive icon changes origional icon of drive into flash drive look alike..

(Let me say the “Abrir” might also be a Portuguese word. Just in case )

Abrir = Open

it gives you “abrir” for first option instead of the default “open”…

Does that mean that “Open” is replaced by “Abrir”? Or does it mean that “Abrir” is the first option and “Open” is later in the list?

it tries to open in a search other programs…

Is that what happens when you select “Abrir”?

Perhaps Abrir Messenger was installed on that PC and not properly uninstalled?
