How to Reconfigure LAN After Move from DSL to T1
Our 2003 installed network uses DSL since 2003. We have several IP in use for different servers running in our network since 2003.
Now this ISP upgrades us to T1. A new T1 modem is installed, with a new set of IP, Subnet, Gateway, DNS 1 & 2 data for T1.
We are told that we have to reconfigure our firewall (Which is a CICSO PIX box). We are told that we have to change all our IPs in use as well. Otherwise those servers could not communicate.
Is this true? What kind of reconfiguration will be needed in order to make such a move successful?

Unfortunately you will have to Re-IP your network. If you were using NAT on your PIX the local IP of your servers do not need to be changed, you just need to update your NAT Rules. The public side of your PIX will also need to change. You will also need to make sure all your subnets, default gateways and DNS will need to be updated as well.

If you are using a private address space on your LAN (10.x.x.x, 172.16-31.x.x or 192.168.x.x) then you do not need to change IP addresses on your systems. As the previous answer states, you will need to modify any public IP address mappings and modify the public DNS records appropriately. This is why it is always a good idea to use private address space on the PRIVATE side of the router. There is no need to use public IP addresses on a private network. This is one of the reasons why network address translation (NAT) was created.
