 How to perform BREAK testing under load?

We are working on providing strong authentication.

After functional testing is pass. We want to conduct a systematic load testing. The objectives of load testing is long run, break testing etc.

For break testing, what can be the test strategy to find out the break points and trouble-shoot?

Please help me in this regard.
