 How to partition a set of numbers into nearly equal bins.

I want to backup files of various sizes using minimal number of disks. There are 200 - 800 files, taking around 5 - 8 disks. It's an optimal packing problem.

I downloaded lots of audio and video files which I want to backup. I thought there would be software to conveniently put them in groups to use disks to the maximum capacity.  Not a big problem; no big deal if I use a few more than I ideally need. Its  just esthetically pleasing.




Software/Hardware used:
Windows. generic disks, burner.
