How to package a software ready to be commercialized

AS/400, iSeries applications, iSeries

I wrote a software and I’m playing with the thought of commercializing it.

When selling an iSeries software, how should it be packaged?

I was thinking of saving it into a SAVF and to distribute the SAVF with installation instructions.

Is there a more “professional” way of doing this?

Thanks
Andre

IBM provide a full set of API's to handle program distribution, installation, security, and PTF management, these are provided at no extra cost within OS/400 and I5/OS

this effectively allows you to distribute and manage your product as a licensed program

these are all described in detail in the IBM manuals

the alternative is to write your own installation and management routines - but then why reinvent the wheel
