Your problem doesn’t seem to fit in this thread. Please open a new question.

When you open a question, include the platforms that the server and client are installed on and the software versions. Also describe what you do to reach the problem, what you see when the problem appears and why it is a problem in those circumstances (i.e., tell us what you think should happen)

Then we can probably know how to respond.

Rayees, SQL Server is not a free product in general. There is a free version which is a little limited called SQL Server Express. You'll have a hard time finding a copy of that for download on Microsoft's website for SQL 2005 as it is so old. You will probably need to download the newest version which is SQL Server 2008 R2. Anything other than the SQL Express edition does require that you pay for it. Getting it without paying for it is illegal in most countries.

From your link, if you have 32bit version of windows, download #1, 64bit windows, download #2:

Note: You must have administrative rights on the computer to install SSMSE.

Step 1: For 32-bit platforms, download and install the 32-bit version of Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. For 64-bit platforms (x64 and EMT64 only), download and install the 64-bit version of Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0.

Note: If you have already installed SQL Server 2005 or Visual Studio 2005, you already have Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0.

Step 2: Download and install Microsoft Core XML Services (MSXML) 6.0.

Note: If you have already installed SQL Server 2005, you already have MSXML 6.0.

Step 3: Download SSMSE by clicking the SQLServer2005_SSMSEE.msi link later on this page. To start the installation immediately, click Run. To install SSMSE at a later time, click Save.

Step 4: Follow the installation instructions provided in the Readme.

2). SQLServer2005_SSMSEE_x64.msi

hi.. i instaled sql 2005 into my sys along with visuval studio 2008. if i select sql server 2005 it showing Configaration tools.. in conifigaration tool i have 3 options SQL sever configaration manager,SQL server usage and repoting and SQL sever surface area configaration.. tell me which one i have to selcet… i checked all these 3 option but i can’t find the dilog box like user name passward.. etc please give the answer
