It seems your OST file is corrupted. Hence if you want to open this corrupted ost file and you have availability of Exchange then don’t worry. Since OST is the replica of the Exchange Server mailboxes data it means if OST gets corrupted it can be recreated and assembled downloading all the data again in it. Simply go through the following procedure;

  1. Locate ost file on the disk and rename it after right clicking on it
  2. Change extension from .ost to old.ost and hit enter
  3. Now excess Exchange Server and open Outlook
  4. It will reconfigure the data file and the new ost file will not be corrupted, one can access it
  5. Apart from this if you want to open this ost file in PST file format, you can choose Import/Export option of Microsoft Outlook.

    Virus checking is also an important part to confirm if your PC is not affected by virus. Or you can re-create an offline outlook data file (.ost).

    They are simply copies of exchange information. It is not necessary to back up this file. It can create a new copy at any time.

    An.ost is the data file, created when you first log onto Outlook. It is not a file to store information on.

    If you ever have any issues logging into Outlook, you can delete the .ost file, and then log back onto Outlook and it will be recreated.
