How to migrate child domain to parent domain in Exchange and Active Directory
I have a Windows 2000 native child domain. We are currently using Exchange 5.5 within that domain. We are planning to migrate the child domain to the parent domain, eventually disposing of the child. At the same time, we will upgrade the Exchange servers to 2003, again using the Parent domain as the new email source and dispose of the child domain. Any suggestion on how to do this?

Please refer to the following migration guide from Microsoft http://download.microsoft.com/download/a/9/4/a94c5f56-f7b5-4ec8-bcaa-1eadf84c4e3f/V3MigGuide.doc Recommendation: 1. Install Exchange Server into parent domain in existing Exchange organization 2. Use ADMT or Mailbox Move Wizard to migrate users and mailboxes 3. Refer to the following MSKB articles for removing the first Exchange Server in a site http://support.microsoft.com/kb/152959, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/152959 and http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Migrating_Exchange_5_5_to_2003.html.
