I want to make a career in information security field. I have already completed my MCSE. What can I do next to ensure I have a long-term successful career in network security?

MCSE is nice, Now try to get CISSP .
Also you will need some hands on experience in the IT Security field. You may have to start at the bottom performing very basic security related tasks ... vulnerability identification, vulnerability remediation, various ways of encrypting data, etc.

A long-term successful career in network security will stem from you understanding the basics of TCP/IP and how computers function at the bit and byte level but, more importantly, you working hard on yourself, networking with the right people, and improving your soft skills like I discuss in my Getting Started in Security audio program. In researching an answer to your query, I observed to my dismay that our information security cert survey hasn’t been updated since May 2008 (fortunately, the landscape hasn’t changed a whole lot since then). But you will definitely want to check it out at http://searchsecurity.techtarget.com/tip/0,289483,sid14_gci1312896,00.html. This will provide information about the whole field of infosec certs, and provide our recommendations as to which might be worth pursuing further.
