Answer Wiki:
You can get a live media cd where you can use Fedoras live cd and get all the benefits of Fedora. Cons once you reboot you will loose all setting changes and work If you want to dual boot your system and allow you to choose which OS to start then you can follow this guide. <a href="http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/9059/dual-boot-your-pre-installed-windows-7-computer-with-ubuntu/"> Good Luck

Simple, reboot ur comp, insert the Linux setup / boot disk into the dvd drive and it shows boot menu select Install…. and next to follow on-screen instructions to make ur pc as dual booting. But be careful when u r going to partition the HDD. That time u have to select custom partition to save Wind 7 and select another raw / remain portion of the HDD. Linux has strong GRUB utility to control the booting process. After successful install the installed Linux OS shows the boot menu either u invoke for 7 / Linux. Linux has open source and so many flavors r there though core architectures r same for all. Installation procedure might be slightly differs from one to another. Recently, I experienced a probs when installing SuSE as dual booting with 7, cause the pc confs. It is requested to before doing this task, u must take all necessary backups of ur data/ files / folders (if exists). If possible u can specify which flavor of Linux OS u r going to install & comp specifications that helps to get more suitable ans of ur Q !

I do not know how you want to use linux in a Win 7 system another way you would put Linux on Win 7 is by using VirtualBox this is a VMware where you can virtualize your HD to install Linux if you want to save time and be hassle free of a dual boot system then VirtualBox is the way to go

You can try Ubuntu, it offers a installation method that you can install linux as normal program on win7. Afterwards, you will have two operating system installed once you reboot your machine.

I support Quixingxy answer.. Easiest way of getting Linux side by side with Linux Ubuntu…
gives an option to which O.S you want to boot into….

not too hard to follow instruction…Recommended.

Like guixingyi said you could use the program of Ubuntu to install like a normal program. But i would not do this. It’s install Linux on NTFS because Windows can’t do anything with Linux EXT4. I suggest to make live cd or usb and start your PC with it. The most distributions have graphical install so you can simple install linux like you want. Be careful you choose to install beside Windows and not replace your Windows
