how to get into router, previous tech did not leave password.
hi all, I just took place of last I.T. tech on new job, the previous tech did not leave the correct u/n and p/w how do I go about getting into switch and routers (cant do hard reset these machines are live)

another issue they built exchange server on a partition, what will I have to do to get more space, the second drive has lots of space, I was thinkingĀ server partition software but I would probably have to reboot for changes to take affect? this is a production exchange server. any ideas?

I have the cme server on a different subnet, I want to be able to get to out on my other subnet, I set this up in the switch our the router? I've been away from the network side of things for a minute, just need to be pointed in right directions.

thanks for the helpĀ

Answer Wiki:
1) If you do not have at least a "user-level" password that allows you to view the running config of the devices, or any kind of documentation, then you will need to reload those machines to do recovery. Perhaps schedule a "maintenance window" to accomplish this (shouldnt take more than an hour) 2) Managing partitions through Windows can allow you to resize and manage partitions on the fly, without having to reboot the devices, given they are dynamic partitions (feel free to chime in Server guys) 3) Going from one "subnet" (aka VLAN) to another requires some Layer 3 solution - so use a router, routed connection or Layer 3 Switch to pass traffic between subnets
