How to get an IDOC as a flat file
SAP
Hi I am begining to use IDOCs to translate them to EDI format, I need to see the IDOC's as a flat file so I can input the IDOC into my translation tool, my question is how can I get the IDOC as a flat file?, is there an export feature in SAP that I can use?, do I need to setup an FTP to get the files?, any suggestion and advice will be appreciated, thanks Alex

Answer Wiki:
In the EDI message type for the logical system you need, you must set the receiver port as file (es: "EDISAP") with the transaction WE20. Bye Lara

Hi ,

In order to create Idocs as a flat file you have to configure the partner profile accordingly. The partner profile is maintained via transaction ‘WE20′. You have to create a profile for a specific partner (ie. previously named Logical System as a receiver) filling in the outbound parameters.
Parameters: – Message type (ie. Idoc type)
– receiver port
– Idoc Basic Type

The receiver port to be used must be a specific file port, previously defined via transaction ‘WE21′.

For more information on parnter profile configuration consult the SAP Online-help or contact me again

Hope I could help
