Hi,  Currently I'm working on Movex ERP (Using As/400 technology).  In which RPG language is used. I'm facing some problem to explorer view so, I want to debug that pgm. Can anyone tell the process for debugging Explorer.

Thanks,

First, is it OPM RPG or ILE RPG? Use the DSPPGM command to display program attributes. The second item under Program Information should be "Type of program" and will show OPM or ILE. Next, if it is ILE, press <Enter> twice on the DSPPGM output to see the list of modules in the program. When the list is displayed, the column on the right-hand side should whether debug data is available in the program. It will show *YES or *NO. If the module (or modules) show *YES, all is well. Otherwise you effectively can't debug that program unless you compile it again with parameters to allow debug. And if the program is OPM, run this command:
    STRDBG PGM( <program name> ) OPMSRC(*YES) DSPMODSRC(*YES)
Replace "<program name>" with the name and library of the program that you want to debug. If a view of the source appears, all is well. Or if a compiler listing view appears that you can scroll down to see the source statements, all is well. But if the STRDBG command simply drops you back on a command line, then you can't debug that program unless you compile it again with parameters to allow debug. In any case, various suggestions on how to debug a program may be different depending on whether or not you can compile the program and on exactly what type of program it is (OPM or ILE). Tom

The GUI session in Movex is a job type EVK and can be debugged in the same manner as a batch job. There will usually be more than one EVK job for a user running in GUI, the initial login creates a job and each subsequent run request creates a new job (essentially each GUI tab is a new job). You first need to determine which of these jobs is the one running the program you are going to debug. Use WRKUSRJOB to do this. Next, run the STRISDB command with the *SELECT option to select the correct GUI session. You can then then step through the debugger as the GUI user executes the program. Carolyn
