Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Initially you should have a copy of an IOS on your PC.

A copy of the step by step configuration on GNS can be downloaded.

hope this helps :-)

Just started using GNS3 and had to call our account manager to upgrade my CCO ID so I would have privedges to download IOS. If you have made any purchases with Cisco you can call the Technical Support Services group and they can do the same for you. Once you download GNS3 and the appropriate IOS for each device you are ready to configure router labs. GNS3.net, Blindhog.net and CCNAvoice.com have great beginner labs which take you step by step on how to use GNS3. First simple lab just drag and drop two 3600 or 3700 series routers into the topology area then use an serial interface under the menu options to connect them (hit the red X to turn off after connected). Right click on one of the routers then select Start to begin configuration. After you see green light right click again and select Configure. You will get a router prompt and then configure as normal or use lab examples from sites mentioned above. When you right click you will also see a option for IdlePC which you should read up on because it is important to CPU utilization on the routers. take care
