I already solved this, with the assistance from IBM support, they just advice to uninstall the i-Series Client Access for Windows ver 5 r3 M0 and install a newer version i-Series Client Access ver7 r1 from installer CD and it’s now working. I just need the installer CD to make it work. I thought before that the service pack will do but it didn’t. Case close.

Is User Account Control (UAC) enabled on that PC? If so, can you disable it and try again?

ERROR 2869. The dialog SetupError has the error style bit set, but is not an error dialog.

That might be trying to report ‘error 2869′ improperly. If so, the dialog that is trying to report the error is setting the error style bit when it shouldn’t; so the actual error is not properly reported. (Maybe.)

I already downloaded the 6.1 service pack SI42423_32 to update client access but when i install it to my PC, i get the error “ERROR 2869. The dialog SetupError has the error style bit set, but is not an error dialog.” How do i solve this error? Thanks.

I think i’ll try the suggestion of Andyhumphre. Do you have the website link where i can download the version 6.1 service pack? I think i’ll try that option. Thanks.

iSeries Access client as released with i version 6.1 with the latest service pack installed, is supported for Windows 7. This software should also quite happily function when used in conjunction with V5R3 and above installed on the server. I would suggest that if you have up-to-date software maintenance, you could order either 6.1 or later FOC, and just try the client out? There is speculation also that most common functions of iSeries Access for V5R4 may work on Windows 7, but it is NOT supported by IBM and won't be.

If I remember correctly, you need to remove the old and load the new. But, you should update the version, release, mod and service pack on both the iSeries and the pc side. Life will be easier.
You may have to then reconfigure (again, delete the old, create the new) connections. Management Central, ODBC, etc.
