There should be a setting in the BIOS allowing boot from other than normal devices which must be set.
You should be able to set up an OS on the USB stick, using it as if it were any hard drive. Just point your install there instead of to C:
Between the two, you should be able to make this happen.

just burn the file into the usb thumbdrive and from your bios select usb as your 1st thing to check on boot up
Are you referring to a USB Device or USB port??
-Del or F2 at start-up BOOT for BIOS Configuration.
-Boot configuration
-First BOOT CHANGE IT TO USB Device. (refer to Shawn Hendricks or Jinteik)
