If it was blocked by your systems administrator, there must be a reason. If you need it, you should request it to the company’s IT people.

What happens when you’re “blocked”?

By all means Technochic is correct in saying contact your system administrator however you can follow some details listed below if you are running Windows 2000/XP/Vista client.

What happens when you try to access the internet? Do you get a message that tells you your internet is blocked or are you getting the general “Page cannot be displayed” message? If its the general message go to your SYSTRAY where the time is bottom right corner and run your mouse across all icons in SYSTRAY. See if you have one that says Microsoft ISA Firewall Client. If so double click on it and see if it is enabled or disabled. If disabled, Enable it. Also you can RIGHT click on your Internet Explorer icon on your desktop and choose Properties. Click on the Connections Tab and then LAN Settings button. DO you have Automatically Detect Settings checked? Also below this see if you have Proxy Settings enabled. If no check marks are in the Use Proxy server for your LAN you can go to one of your co-workers computers that has internet access to see if they have Proxy enabled and if so copy the information you see which should be an IP Address or a unique name like firewall.company.com and a Port number like 8080 to the right of it. In any event compare the working PC against the non working PC. There have been on numerous occasions in my experience where these settings got altered for unknown reasons. Usually an End-User trying to be computer savy and making changes not knowing what effect it had on them.

Sorry the unique name I listed in my previous response added code referring it as if it were a website. The name example I was trying to leave you with was firewall dot companyname dot com Port 80 or 8080

Sounds to me like you are being blocked by a firewall which is protecting the domain. Like alot of other posts said i am going to agree your ip or mac is very likely to be blocked on the firewall and there is always a reason for that. You need to contact your IT guys and request internet access they are very very likely to ask you why you want it and it your reason is a valid one there is no reason why they shouldn’t open the internet for you. A simple way to check if you are being firewalled is to ping a server on the web and if you get a reply then your browsing has been blocked. Good luck
