How to back up SQL Server database file on a different shared network


SQL Server backup, WAN

I want to back up a SQL Server database file on a different system shared folder which is in different WAN network. How can I do this and are there any other backup methods available in SQL Server?

I know that SQL server has built in log shipping and 2005 has some improved mirroring capabilities but not sure that is going to get you what you want. I have used Double-Take software hundreds of times to replicate multiple SQL databases and log files to WAN locations several thousands of miles apart. Then the nice thing about that is you can utilize it as a DR or high availability solution as well so it isn't just a backup.
