Fred needs your help. He would like to find out how he can add an Ethernet PCI card (2838) on the iSeries 9406-820 from the iSeries operation console (serial) and get it configured for V5R1MO. Can you help? -- Michelle Davidson, editor, Search400.com

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

if/when eth card has been inserted in an appropriate slot, and either the entire iSeries has been IPL’d or at least the controlling IOP has been reset/IPL’d the proper EtherNet resources are pretty easy to define in OpsNav… Click on the iSeries name, open the Network object, opent the IPV4 object, open the Interfaces object… Click on the new interface object icon up above in the toolbar or got to File command then mnew interface… A wizard will open and the first thing you need to select is the resource name given to your 2838 card by the OS… it will probably be CMN03 or some such thing… fill out the survey pertaining to Ip addresses and subnet mash and gateway… and it should create everything you need… just before exiting you are asked if youwant it to start automatically… (probably yes) and then asked again if you want it to start now.
