I'm not sure you could even get a true accounting from IBM about this, but I would assume that since more tha 500,000 have been manufactured, there are a significant number still out in the world. When they crossed the 300,000 mark back in the late 1990's, they touted that more than 2/3 were still in use, but I would think that you couldn't use that ratio any more.
My best guess would be approximately 200,000 with over half in the far-east/south pacific.
