I have this same issue with Windows 7. The family computer has
4 personal desktops. They all work fine except one. Mine.
When I log into my desktop it goes through a “Preparing Desktop”
phase. It then prepares a temporary desktop that doesn’t have any
of my desktop files. I can’t access or save any files.
I am able to access the internet. IE, Firefox and Chrome all work
just fine. But they don’t have any of my bookmarks.
I will post this question to the site “What Is A Temporary Desktop?”
If no one answers your question maybe someone will answer mine.
@RBRTBTT please let me know if you ever got a resolution to this problem.
Since this isn’t a forum for home users, RBRTBTT possibly doesn’t monitor this site on a continuing basis. There isn’t much we can do for many home use problems. If you have a professional background in computers, specific procedures might be suggested. But without background, it can take a lot of time that takes away from the standard purpose of the site which is for professional business issues. — Tom
I have seen the same problem on Professional OS versions. It usually relates to networking or permission issues. It can also happen when a user tries to experiment with options they don’t understand such as profile roaming.
