Life of a software engineer in one perspective when he is working for an organization, and this organization opts for the cloud computing as a servicer, will remain unchanged. Organization will opt for servers, storage, backup, application maintenance, OS, Server software, security, data replication etc. as outsourced to a company offering cloud computing services. Software in any case has to be made as it is, upgraded as it is, and maintained as it is.

AMAZON AWS is the best compared to all the clouds , I have been working on clouds for last 2-3 yrs and i feel the approach of AWS is pretty good and raw compared to other guys. they have jept all their cloud services raw and it is upto the architects and developers to provide a solution over them. compared to other clouds it offers the best flexibility . MOSSO is also lately catching up , but now way comparable with amazon AWS. If you planning to do software development over amazon , check this cool site, 8kmiles.com , last 2 months i have started using them. they have written wrappers over amazon cloud and have made the development aspect easy over the amazon aws.

Moreover the sustainability, security issues, performance, availability, upkeep and uptime could be an issue in times to come as it picks up. I wonder how many organizations would be interested in going for it in terms of security vs value for money.
