 how do you restore a vhd windows image file?
Backup & recovery tools, Laptop backup, VHD backup
I used the back up software that came with a western digital (usb) drive to create a back up of my laptop.  Now I do not have the laptop or western digital drive, only a copy of the windows image file it created.  The format is a vhd file.  How do I extract the files in the image?

One way is to use shareware tool like WinImage http://www.winimage.com/winimage.htm The other way is to mount VHD file as a drive letter using vhdmount utility from Virtual Server 2005 R2 Service Pack 1
