HP has joined the community to get some feedback from our members. They are listening and looking for your thoughts on: How do you manage the power capacity of your server room? What tools or tricks do you use? Do you provision more power than you need for those "just in case" scenarios?

Most people I’ve seen don’t think about this area until a problem arises (usually when expanding a data center). Certainly a market for HP to sell some consulting services!

The server room has always been the topic of discussion when it comes to power consumption.
I suppose it is one of the more complex topics to discuss as each environment is different.
In the past I have always approached this from the point of view that equipment optimization is the key.
I have been in too many environments in the past where a server is dedicated to a single service where a desktop could do the trick.
