How do PST reader view the contents?

It is known that MS Outlook doesn't work when the PST file of large size.
Decided reduced file moved to another letter PST-file. Letters were transferred successfully. Size decreased. But the file does not open, it haven't errors. How do pst reader view the contents?

PST files (.pst) are used by Microsoft Outlook and do not translate directly to any other format. 
Fortunately there is  software that will do the job for you. In your case, since you don’t have 
access to the original PC or Outlook, that narrows the field considerably. We could find  program 
that would perform this conversion for you. It’s Outlook Recovery Toolbox.

    If MS Outlook stops working and you are unable to read PST fie then use a free viewer application. It will let you to open PST file and read all emails. As per my own knowledge you can use freeviewer.org/pst/ to access your PST file.
