How do I use the serial port in Sun virtual box with Windows XP
Ok here is my question. I have a windows host and another windows VM (XP). In the VM I want to access the serial port, com1, but it asks me to give the port path, I get lost there.

You can try using this path and replace the * with a number integer
/dev/ttyS*
The way I configured the Hosts COM1 in my VM was to assign the "Port Number" for my VM as 'COM2' and configured the "Port Mode" as 'Host Pipe' (leave Create Pipe check box unchecked).
After doing this the "Port Path" will be 'COM1' which defines the Host's COM port.
