How do I create iSeries group profile?
i have a dilemma, im using iseries model 820 w/ OS V5R3 and i am tasked to create a group profile for 6 users and then enroll this newly created group profile to objects where this 6 users have *allobj access. Our security administrator will remove the *ALLOBJ in the userprofile of this 6 users. How do i create a group profile? And if i'm able to create one, do i have to manually enroll this group profile to the PF and PGM objects so that the 6 users can perform their task. Thanks.

Answer Wiki:
A group profile is setup the same was an individual profile is setup. Do that first. Make sure it has the authority levels you desire. Change the 6 profiles you now have to use the group profile attributes (GRPPRF, OWNER, GRPAUT, GRPAUTTYP) Change the objecty owner of objects owned by the 6 profiles to be owned by the new group profile.

How do i create a group profile?

As CharlieBrowne said, group profiles are created the same way any user profile is created.

The only significant difference between group profiles and normal user profiles is that a group profile has members. Users become members of a group when their user profiles are updated to specify the groups that they belong to. That is, you change the users’ profiles to make them become members; you don’t change the group profile at all.

Once a user profile has a group profile assigned to it, that user can inherit all of the authorities of the group profile.
