How do I create a new local names.nsf file.

Names.nsf, Lotus Notes 6.x, Lotus Notes, NSF, Lotus Address Book

I am runing Lotus Notes 6.0.1 and have a user that has a local names.nsf file that has been copied from someone elses PC. When he opens the file the name of the address book shows the address book name of the person who created the original names.nsf file. How can I change the address book name that is displayed when he opens his local names.nsf file?

If you need to change your name in your Lotus Notes account, you must do the following:

1. Go to the FIU Phonebook page (http://www.fiu.edu/phonebook.html) and click on the Change your information or alias link

2. Click on Alias Change Request

3. Fill in the required fields and specify what you want your new alias (name) to be.

4. In the "Comments" field, specify that you need your name changed in Lotus Notes as well.

5. When the alias change is processed, your name will be changed in Lotus Notes as well.

6. You will receive a notification when you open your Lotus Notes client that a change has been made, and you will be asked if you want to accept the change. Make sure you answer Yes.

7. Once you accept this name change, your name will be changed everywhere that it needs to be in Lotus Notes.

The name on the local names.nsf is a property of the database. Assuming you have manager access to that local names.nsf, you should be able to use a Notes client and open up the Database Properties. The Title of the database/application (it is called a database in R6, but in R8 it is an application) is what needs to be modified.

There is no need to have Manager access to names.nsf. Designer will be enough. =) In case you haven’t it - you can copy existing Address book/create a new one. Then exit from Notes. Copy new database instead existing names.nsf. Enjoy! =)
Be careful, some of settings stored at local names.nsf. Make a reserve copy before this manipulations.

Open it, go to ‘database’, ‘properties’ and on the 1st tab go to ‘title’ and change the text
